Swine Flu Virus Found in China May Cause Pandemic Situation
The world is suffering from pandemic COVID-19 which started from a state in China(Wuhan). The vaccine is not made till now and now there is another flu virus with pandemic potential in China. It is carried by pig but can affect humans also. Researchers are worried that it could mutate further and spread from person to person and target the whole global outbreak.
A brief history of Swine Flu
The last flu virus that the world dealt with was Swine flu in 2009. This flu lasted for about 19 months and caused much loss of lives. This flu is similar to Swine flu but with some changes. It has not done any major destruction but professor Kin-Chow Chang and his colleagues say that we should keep an eye to it.
Scientists have given this virus name (G4 EA H1N1). They say it can grow in the cells of the human. The flu vaccines which are available right now are not able to protect against it. It is not dangerous right now but can be dangerous in the future.
Dr. Huang said, “we should be worried about any virus which has the potential of spreading from person to person.
Dr. Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Columbia University’s public health school, warned the public not to freak out.
Ian H. Brown says “Predicting risk is not a precise science, but close attention to the virus would be advisable”.
Fauci said, “ there can be another swine flu outbreak as it was in 2009”. It’s something that is still in the stage of examination therefore people should not be threatened.
When Scientists check the history of the past 10 years they have found traces of infection in the employees who are working in the Swine industry which shows the virus has already transmitted from animals to humans but there is no study that can be transferred from one person to another. They say Swine flu is increasing rapidly from 2006. Continuously testing is being done on pigs and the people who are living near Swine factories.
Safety Measure by China
China has taken the first step to deal with this flu as continuous testing are being done on animals as well as humans and the very next step will be making vaccine before it will be needed. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson told, “we will take all possible measures to prevent the spread and outbreak of any virus”.
